How To Become a New User of the Nanoscience Centre

The Nanoscience Centre facilities are available (on application) to all bona-fide students, researchers and visitors of the University of Cambridge with an interest in nanoscience research. Certain facilities are operated on a "charged for" basis and all users are required to comply with the operating and health and safety procedures in place.

The procedure for becoming a new registered user is as follows:

  1. In order to become a user of the Nanoscience Centre you must first complete an activity form found here.
  2. Following discussion with your supervisor the activity form should be signed by him/her and returned to a member of the support team.
  3. You will then receive an email inviting you to attend the next Nanoscience Centre induction session and you will bring with you your University Mifare card.
  4. On arrival for induction, cards will be collected and programmed for access to the Centre and to its intranet.
  5. The aim is that users will be set up (on intranet & card programmed) within 24 hours of your induction.
  6. Once your card has been programmed, you can approach managers of the equipment to gain instruction.
